ISLAMABAD: Transparency International (TI) has dispatched a complaint letter to the federal minister for shipping and ports Kamran Michael regarding ‘china cutting’ of 50 to 120 acres of land worth Rs20 billion.

A piece of land of 130 acres was allotted by the KPT Board to the KPT Officers Society in 1996. According to TI, the KPT management wants to extend this area for secret purposes.

According to the KPT Act, trustees cannot benefit from the trust however several trustees have been allotted plots in this area. TI has demanded cancellation of these allotments.

In a further revelation TI said that there are rumours of a land mafia group trying to ‘formalise and legalise’ the illegally acquired with the assistance from some leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
