KARACHI: Sindh Local Government Minister Owais Muzzafar has ordered close coordination between health and local government departments to ensure an efficient prevention and control campaign against dengue fever in Karachi.
In his directives to the local government and health department officials on Thursday, he asked doctors to proceed with caution when dealing with potential dengue victims. “All suspected dengue cases must be provided thorough medical attention,” the minister added. Muzaffar also highlighted the importance of public awareness of the symptoms of dengue fever. He directed district munipal corporations (DMCs) to inform the public about dengue. “We have to convince them to be careful when using water and that garbage ought to be thrown at designated places in their respective areas of residence from where it would be regularly collected by DMCs,” he said.
Karachi Metropolitan Corporation administrator and municipal commissioner will be held directly responsible for the implementation of the cleanliness and fumigation plans, Muzaffar added, saying that he would monitor the progress of the drives.
